The "Somos Agua" exhibition, delivered by ACCIONA Cultura to the Fundación Canal, proposes 360 immersion for Sustainable Water Management

The exhibition is organised in 12 themed units that showcase water and seek to inspire change for sustainable management, based on multimedia resources adapted to audiences of different ages.
It can be visited between 16 December 2022 and 30 June 2023 in the Sala Castellana 214 of the Fundación Canal de Isabel II.
Spanning 2,500 m², the exhibition is sustainable in both its concept and its production.
Between 16 December 2022 and 30 June 2023, the Sala Castellana 214 will host the ‘SOMOS AGUA’ exhibition, produced by the Fundación Canal de Isabel II and whose museum concept has been implemented by ACCIONA Cultura.
The ‘SOMOS AGUA’ exhibition offers a 360⁰ vision that reveals the importance of water to life and the planet, raising awareness of its significance in terms of health, history, culture, education, economy, the integrity of our natural environment and in homes.
As such, the exhibition aims to help water be correctly valued by society, striving to inspire the change required to preserve and sustainably manage it. Similarly, the exhibition gives a cross-disciplinary look at the contribution of the Fundación Canal de Isabel II to managing the full water cycle in the Community of Madrid, as well as the future solutions it offers.
ACCIONA Cultura is responsible for the project with regard to its technical development, content development, management, coordination, construction, museographic implementation, exhibition room management, operation of the shop, and ticket sales for the time the exhibition is open.
The exhibition is mainly aimed at families, with a clear focus on school groups. It has three core values: surprising, with content that connects the analogue world and the digital world; universal, with simple, approachable language adapted to people with varying abilities; and sustainable in its approach and its production, avoiding the use of contaminant and non-recyclable materials. To this end, ACCIONA Cultura has developed a programme of good environmental practices and a sustainable production plan, which is why the majority of materials used to produce and assemble the exhibition are recycled or recyclable.
The exhibition offers a highly attractive, entertaining and educational experience for all visitors, where the technical and scientific contents are expressed through various exhibition resources, such as immersive audiovisual facilities and large sound and graphic means.

In this regard, ‘SOMOS AGUA’ stands out thanks to its high number of multimedia resources. Throughout its 12 themed units and its more than 80 audiovisual productions, visitors will learn about the essential role of water in nature, they will immerse themselves in more everyday subjects like water’s journey from rivers to homes and the city, and they will explore its different uses in industry as well as its potential as a renewable energy source.
One of the most significant sections is dedicated to the different climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions being developed in relation to sustainable water management. It shines a light on innovative initiatives and encourages sustainable water management among visitors.
Regarding the exhibition resources, one of the biggest attractions is the exhibition’s immersive tunnel where the exhibition flows out. At 6 metres tall and 30 metres long, this is the longest LED tunnel in Europe, through which visitors will discover aspects about water that will lead them to value its importance to life on Earth.

Lastly, ‘SOMOS AGUA’ presents an environmental education programme developed by ACCIONA Cultura for school trips. This programme is adapted to primary, secondary and Spanish Baccalaureate study levels, allowing teachers to link their curriculum with the exhibition’s contents through different tours and activities. In addition, the company has developed school and family workshops for different ages.
