Musical Show – Istanbul, Turkey
Musical SIMURG is a metaphor of Turkey’s history narrated through the legend of the Phoenix, also referred to as the Simurg, presenting the bird’s journey through the “seven valleys of life”, a symbolic tour of the country’s seven regions. The cast of SIMURG includes more than 140 artists, such as 20 dancers, 45 musicians and 45 singers of the TRT Chorus and Orchestra (Turkey’s Radio and Television Corporation).
The premiere took place in the Istanbul Haliç Congress Center to more than 3,000 guests that included some of the country’s cultural and political public figures.
The audio-visual feature combines different techniques, such as illustrations, 2D and 3D animation or video mapping, and the stage set includes innovative audio-visual resources like special effects and immersive screens. The most spectacular element of this set is a 25m long and 5m high screen made of real goose feathers, a metaphor of the union of all the birds featured in the Simurg legend, that provides audio-visual support to the different performances of the musical.
In addition, throughout the show, the stage design introduces a projection surface that goes beyond the actual theatrical area. Thus, a mega screen of more than 60m in length and 15m in width is created, to project hyper realistic 3D scenes that generate an immersive experience in the audience.
