Museum – Abeokuta, Nigeria
The project OOPL in Abeokuta (Nigeria) is dedicated to the life and work of Olusegun Obasanjo, president of Nigeria on two occasions. Its object is to commemorate his legacy and that the principles that guided him serve to inspire the visitors.
The visit to the museum is structured in three phases, beginning with the “Orientation Theater”, where a short projection gives the visitor an idea who the man was that has marked the history of Nigeria. After this initial introduction, the visitor moves into the two exhibition galleries on the first floor. The content continues the chronological development of Olusegun Obasanjo’s childhood and formation, up to his presidential career and legacy.
Among the most significant elements found in the museum are the Atrium sculpture, made up of large scale panels done by local artists; the “Performance Cones”, with representations of Obasanjo’s real life accompanied by audiovisual projections; a large scale interactive map; an audiovisual installation “African Visionaries” or the “Photo Booth”, an interactive area of the Nigerian Child, where children can dress up in work clothes of different professions like doctors, engineers or teachers, and photograph themselves.
