Museum – Doha, Qatar
The National Museum of Qatar invites visitors to immerse themselves in a unique and innovative experience that combines portraits of the history, geography and culture of the country and give voice to its unique story and its people from earliest times to the present day and onwards towards its future.
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) is responsible for the management and general coordination of the work related to the design, production, installation and commissioning of 149 audiovisual and interactive installations inside the museum. To do so, APD has shot historical sites and interviews that have been combined with over 5,000 images, – which have been licensed in 100 different institutions and worldwide image banks – to contextualize and archive the historic, geographical, economic and social development of Qatar.
The exhibition is organised in three themes – Beginnings, Life in Qatar, and Building the Nation -, each one is presented across eleven individual galleries spread over 1.5km, which offer interactive learning environments and an attractive narrative that serve as a knowledge base and encourage cultural understanding of the country.
The National Museum of Qatar, which was designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, has an area of 40,000 square metres, of which, about 8,000 m2 are used for the permanent exhibition and another 2,000 m2 for temporary exhibitions, all surrounded by a 112,000 m2 garden.
