Multimedia Show – Toledo, Spain
The multimedia show ‘Luz Toledo’ was projected on the Alcazar façade under the title “Toledo, the Universal City”. In the framework of European Year of Cultural Heritage, ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD) created a Cultural Engineering project that underscored the city’s contribution to the world and its historical, cultural, artistic and literary legacy to the history of Europe.
The show included the latest projection technology, lighting and 3D effects as well as music to highlight historical events and locations that are essential for understanding the city’s history.
Initially, the façade of the Alcazar become the 3rd century Roman palace, which was the seat of the praetor (vestiges of the first structure to overlook the city of Toledo from this high rock). Then, the Alcazar, which is currently the headquarters of the Library of Castilla la Mancha, appeared to open its walls to reveal a range of books that bear witness to the city’s artistic, literary, landscape and gastronomic heritage.
Another highlight of the show was the 1931 twinning of the city with Toledo, Ohio, the first such initiative ever. Toledo subsequently twinned with other cities such as Damascus (Syria), Havana (Cuba), Heraklion (Greece), and Nara (Japan), all of which were recreated on the façade of the Alcazar.
The show concluded with a tour of the iconographies and artistic styles that are represented in Toledo and which have had an international influence.
