Last 27 of February in Germany, ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño received the iF Design Award for the immersive installation at the Wu Kingdom Hel Relic Museum in Wuxi (China). Together with the Red Dot Award, they have now won two of the most prestigious international prizes for design.

More than 2,000 professionals from all over the world attended the awards ceremony held in the BMW World in Munich. Our fellow companion Eric Teunis, Project Manager for the installation, was there to receive the award in representation of APD and accompanied by Marc Tamschick, from TAMSCHICK MEDIA+SPACE GmbH, who also participated in the project development.

For over 60 years, the iF Design Award has been recognized the world over as a label of design excellence. This year, the high-profile international iF jury assessed some 5,000 entries in order to determine the winners in the iF Design Award 2015. 1,629 entries were successful in standing out from the crowd and have received the iF label as a symbol of design excellence. Only 75 of those managed to make it into the top list of the international expert jury and were honored with an iF Gold Award at the festive awards ceremony at BMW World in Munich: the immersive installation created by ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño was one of them!

The iF Gold award was given in the category of ‘Exhibition’, within the discipline of ‘Interior Architecture’. The criteria for evaluating the applicants in this occasion, and which made us worthy of the so-called ‘Design Oscar’,  considered the quality of execution, spacial concept and environmental impact, among others.

It’s not the first time that ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño has received this prize. Already in 2011, our Pavilion of Saudi Arabia for the Expo in Shanghai 2010 was awarded the iF Communication Design Award for The Treasure. This audiovisual show was carried out in high definition projected over the concave walls of the pavilion measuring 1,600m², creating a sea of marvellous images that enveloped the visitors transporting them in time and space.
